Natural refrigerant

(R-134a and R-404A) have a very high global warming potential (GWP), which is harmful to the environment.

The global warming potential (GWP) is the relative value that quantifies the ability of a gas to cause global warming or greenhouse effect in the atmosphere. The hydrocarbon R-290> is part of the group of natural refrigerants and has a zero-ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a negligible global warming potential (GWP) compared to the refrigerants named above..

F-gas Regulation

The European Union has set itself the objective of reducing the environmental impact of F-gases through a series of regulations. The first F-gas Regulation, EC 842/2006, focused on reducing emissions, mainly by preventing leakage in systems and on the end-of-life recovery and responsible destruction of gases.

In 2014, the EU published an update of EC Regulation 517/2014. This regulation replaces 842/2006 and entered into force on 1 January 2015. The changes included:

Limitations on the use of higher global warming potential (GWP) gases, such as R-404A, in refrigeration and existing equipment from 2020.

The F-Gas classifies hydrofluorocarbons according to their global warming potential. Therefore, for each application there are different limits and different ban dates.
